The following is posted on behalf of the 3rd team/development squad captain Glenn Bullock:

''We travelled to Atherton CC who are top of the league and looking at there team it seemed more like a 2nd XI as apposed to a 3rd team. With a more mature side than ours.

We won the toss and elected to bat, opening with Tyrese and Jamie who both looked comfortable against a more experienced bowling attack. The opening pair put on 25 off 9 before Jamie got out trying to pull a ball the was possibly too full and got bowled. He was quickly follow by Ty, this meant that Ben Turner and Niall Dunn were out there together, Niall out LBW for 1 so 3 wickets down for 2 runs. Ben looked in good control with the bat until he was out for 8. Then, apart from Glenn 40 not out, the next 6 batters scored 2 runs between them: Phil, Nathan, Connor, Leyland, Nathan Taylor and Cameron with a selection of bowled and LBW. A final total of 97, we had to bowl well to win the match.

Nice tea and out we went, with Niall and Nathan Taylor opening the bowling, Niall got 2 wickets - one in his 1st and one in his 3rd over with a good catch from Phil Lloyd and 1 bowled and finished with 6 overs 2 for 24 and Nathan supporting with 6 overs 0 for 24. We then had a change of bowling brought on Connor and Nathan Blair, with the score on 51 for 2 Conner got a wicket in his 1st over a good stumping from Ben Turner behind the stumps who may I say did very well. Nathan then got 2 wickets in his 3rd over leaving the home side 66 for 5 - game on. Unfortunately their nunmber 4 got 58* and reached their target in the 25th over Connor 6.2 overs 1 for 19, Nathan Blair 2 for 24 off 5 and Cameron Rich just 1 over 0 for 6. Good effort boys today wasn't to be but a good challenge

We move on to next week with a semi final against Sutton CC (St Helens) - hard work this Thursday night for all''.
