Social Humbled in Pre Season Friendly

Westhoughton 2nd XI hosted FSC in a friendly between two sides expected to challenge for the league honours in the upcoming season, but there was only ever likely to be one winner on the day.
With new recruit Jamie McAndrew (17) and Social old-boy Kieran Paisley (38) opening the batting, Westhoughton reached 62-0 before both fell in consecutive overs. Two more quick wickets fell and Westhougton were soon 84-4. This brought Mike King to the crease who top scored with 52* from 58 balls as the hosts posted a total of 185-7 in their 40 overs.
Social got off to the worst possible start losing their top 3 batters with only 11 runs scored thanks to Dan Higham (2-8 from 5 overs) and a run out from Kingy. Wickets would fall at a steady rate throughout the innings with only two batters reaching double figures. Nathan Blair was the stand out bowler taking 5-20 from his 6.2 overs as Social were dismissed for only 64 in the 23rd over.
