Ton up Trow

Having won the toss Westhoughton elected to bat.
The returning Glenn Bullock fresh from scoring runs in the 1xi took apart the Greeners bowling to reach 70 before holing out to a smart catch at square leg. Matt Trow played the supporting role to Glenn steadily accumulated a score reaching 50 in 35overs. Hodgy tried to up the run rate reaching 31 before also going to a sharp catch at square leg. JP went cheaply bowled by Gareth Wiliams to bring Kai Hodgkiss to the wicket. This was the catalyst for an assault on Greeners bowling as Kai hit 30 in 20 balls whilst pushing Matt on towards his maiden ton as he also opened up & smashed numerous boundaries.Kai holed out to a good running catch at the long on boundary leaving Matt to carry on dominating the bowling reaching his maiden ton and finished on 137no at the close of the innings with Westhoughton 318-8 as Dan,Jimmy and Jason fell in consecutive balls giving Simon Woolford a hat-trick at the death.

In reply Greenmount got off to a steady start as Simon Ashcroft struggled to find his line and length dropping short and was hit for 4 sixes and had to be replaced after only 3 overs. At the other end Dan Higham didn't have such trouble taking the first 3 wickets caught JP then bowled before taking the prize scalp of Simon Woolford caught and bowled with a great catch from a ball driven hard back at Dan. Jason Dunning then took apart the Greenmount batting taking 6 wickets for 8 runs with another fiery spell with the umpires insisting that the batsmen wore helmets after Banksy wore one deflecting the ball for 4 head byes ! Matt Fanning took the last wicket to close the Greeners innings at 80 all out.

With Horwich losing at Bradshaw the lead at the top was extended to 17 points and edged Westhoughton closer to a fourth consecutive league Championship.
