Having lost the toss Westhoughton were invited to bat by a decent Heaton side fresh from last weeks win against Horwich.
With Matt Trow unavailable drowning his sorrows at the Reebok,Matthew Fanning stepped up to open the innings with Glenn Bullock.The pair put on a good opening stand of 40+ before Matthew was out stumped off the bowling of Lee Sutton.Hodgy joined Glenn in the middle and put on another good partnership with Glenn reaching 50.Hodgy then went caught at mid-on for 16. JP entered the fray hitting a couple of boundaries before missing a straight one quickly followed by Kai Hodgkiss;Dan Higham both bowled and Usman Yahla caught all out for ducks,a mid-order collapse.Runi ably supported Glenn who reached his maiden Howfen ton but unfortunately went lbw shortly after,a fantastic knock.At 170-7 Howfen were in danger of falling short of a par score until Wasim and Runi batted the last 17 overs pushing the score upto 263 at the close with Runi 49* and Wasim 42*.

In response Heaton lost keeper batsman Brown for a duck smashing a half tracker to Kai Hodgkiss at square leg who made the catch look easy.Meaney and Parry put on a decent partnership before Matt Fanning had Parry trapped in front.Simon Ashcroft replaced Dan Higham and after settling into a rhythm had the dangerous Meaney nick off to JP behind the stumps.Ross Sutton followed shortly after as Kai made a diving stop at mid-wicket before recovering the ball and with only one stump to aim at threw down the wickets with Sutton short.Wasim joined the attack and picked up a couple before being replaced by Matt Fanning in an attempt to break the lower order partnerships.Despite a couple of further wickets Heaton held on for a bonus point with Dan Higham left to rue a straight forward caught & bowled chance in the penultimate over.Final score Heaton 214-9.
