Tonge swept a side

Having decided to bat first Westhoughton were in a bit of bother as a tight opening spell reduced the home side to 3 for 2 wickets.Matt Trow and Arun Pindoria rebuilt the innings putting on 60 runs before Matt fell lbw for 38.This brought Jon Partington to the wicket who carried on the partnership before Runi was bowled for 18.JP continued to hit the bad ball and defend where necessary as he reached his fourth fifty of the season.Tonge tried numerous bowling changes in an attempt to make the breakthrough and eventually got their rewards with firstly Jimmy Burrows and then Gary Tonge falling to fine diving catches.Nathan Blair supported JP for the last few overs as he stepped up the run rate and reached his maiden Howfen ton with a massive six over mid-wicket.JP finished unbeaten on 109 with Nathan posting a seasons best 21no.

In reply Tonge never threatened as Martin Woods took 3 wickets,Gary Tonge 3wkts whilst Dan Higham with 3wkts and Wasim Nawab finished off the tail.

The after game celebrations had to be halted for 5 minutes as JP snook off to take a personal memento pic of the scoreboard displaying his score!! No doubt to be posted shortly !!
