Right, its arrived, Hamer Cup Final, first one in 14 years.

The lads set off at 11, the supporters coach an hour later, everyone looking forward to the big day out.
Weather forecast was ok and all picnics we made up the night before, let's go.

We got off do a decent start, Edwards had Ingy caught by HowfenNesbit, then Dave Lee Travis Townsend the Greenmount pro was strangled down the leg side, 20 odd for 2.
Andy Kerr batting sensibly steering the Greenmount innings along, Ryan Senior joined him and pushed the score onto 40 odd, before Ryan was LBW bowled Beany.
Enter Simon Wolford from the 2nd team, he's better than that is Simon, but politics at Greeners so he play 2nds.
Great innings, good stroke play, a well deserved 49. In between Danny Hong Kong had Andy Kerr LBW for 50.

Greenmount on top, looking like a score 200 plus, but a great fight back by THF and Ferret Face got us back in the game, the tail didn't wag and 185 was the target.
Ferret has 5 for 42 of his allotted overs, Newbs one for not so many, Qaiser wickets less, 19 overs for 53, miserly as ever.

I had a beef barm for tea, olives, mini pasties and dips.Another great spread by Mrs Chief Selector.

The sun had come out, was this our time, could we chase down 185 for glory??

Million Dollar opened up with the skip, ton up Athy the week before, struggling with a pulled fetlock, would he have opened fully fit, I don't know the answer.

Qaiser moved quickly to 20 odd, Skip was done by a Mark Stewart leg cutter, going from bad to worse this.Time to go nada have a seat on my own for a few mins.
Sean came and went, Qaiser was bowled, 30 odd for 5.
Newby played a few decent shot, Athy pogged a few on one leg, 60 odd for 7, we needed an 18 CRT miracle from here, was there a hero in KP, Ferret, Bean or Hong Kong. NO.

Danny slogged Stewy, but he didn't care the damage was fatal early on, we were going down quicker than a honeymooners drawers.

Game over, 90 odd runs, 90 odd, I could have cried.

The lads were disappointed, as were the supporters, wives, girlfriends, uncles, auntie, grandparents, hairdressers, the lot.

Time to drown the sorrows, and go again for the league, which is still in our grasp.
