Two back-to-back games proves too much for 1st XI who fall to Egerton on Bank Holiday Monday.

Having beaten Horwich in the first game of the day, Westhoughton had the challenge of a fresh Egerton side to overcome in game two. Skipper Rob Houghton again chose to bat first and again an early wicket fell as Kieran Paisley was bowled for 1. Dan Naylor (22) and Charlie Honour (35) made decent contributions but the run rate was average at best as Westhoughton were 47-2 at the half way stage. The middle order failed to accelerate and only Rob Brown (18) made it to double figures as the final total was 99-8 from 20 overs. Another excellent bowling performance would be required if the lads wanted to make it to the Bolton League area final against Eagley.
Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of Oliver Newby (4-10 from his 4 overs), it proved to be too much of a task for the lads as Egerton who, despite an early wobble leaving them 17-3, managed to recover and were always in control of the run chase once Newby had bowled his allocated overs. Dan Naylor picked up a wicket and there was a run out for Sean Dunning but Egerton reached the target with 3 overs to spare as they closed on 100-6 and advance to the final.
