Westhoughton 1st team were looking to bounce back from their disappointing NKO defeat to Prestwich on Good Friday, and bounce back they did against Heaton on Easter Sunday.
Westhougton won the toss and Kieran Edwards struck with the score on 1 in what was a sign of things to come. Whilst Kieran finished with 4-43 from 12 overs, the real star of the show was professional Qaiser Abbas who tore through Heaton's middle order to take 6-6 from 12.5 overs, including 8 maidens! Heaton were eventually 50 all out inside 25 overs.
The hosts decided to go straight round rather than wait for tea, and captain Rob Houghton (16*) and Atiq-uz-Zaman (34*) made light work of chasing down the low total as Westhoughton finished 54-0 inside 12 overs. This was an emphatic victory for the lads to start the season and they can head to Bradshaw next week with real confidence.
