ECB T/20 vs Eagley

Westhoughton 1st XI saw numerous changes for this T/20 game, with Kai Hodgkiss, Matt Trow, Jon Partington, Dan Higham and Chris Trow all brought into the side. After winning the toss, Westhoughton chose to bat first.
With only 7 players on the field, Atiq Uz-Zaman opened the batting with Dan Naylor looking to take advantage of the situation. Somehow, Atiq cut the first ball straight to point to sum up how this weekend was for him with the bat. Dan (12) and Rob Brown (15) shared a partnership of 29, and then Rob Houghton (21) joined Rob Brown at the crease to share a stand of 32. Both of these partnerships were boosted greatly by 21 wides (part of 25 extras) to help nudge Westhoughton along as wickets fell at regular intervals. Without the top score of 36* from Jon Partington, Westhoughton would have struggled to post a competitive total.
In response, wickets again fell regularly with Rob Houghton, Nathan Blair, Rob Brown and Atiq Uz-Zaman all taking 1 wicket apiece. Matt Fanning was the stand out bowler taking 4-33 from his 4 overs, combining with JP for 3 of his 4 victims. Eagley finished on 113-8 in their 20 overs, falling well short after giving Westhoughton a late scare with a few boundaries.
The date of the next game, and opposition, are still TBC at this stage. Horwich vs Astley Bridge play on Sunday 2nd June, the winners to face Westhoughton.
