Westhoughton won the toss and elected to bat against what appeared to be an under-strength Greenmount side on paper, but in reality the 'big' players were still apart of the side. With only five batters making double figures (Qaiser Abbas 31, Atiq-Uz-Zaman 26, Dan Naylor 15* and Rob Houghton and Kieran Paisley 12 each), Westhoughton struggled to post a challenging total, finally dismissed for only 122 after 45 overs.
Unfortunately for the hosts, this was never going to be enough, and when Greenmount's opening batter was dropped in the 20s due to some mis-communication, it was a sign that the game was nearly up already. Despite Dan Reeve taking one wicket, that was as far as the bowlers got with their efforts. This was in part due to some lbw decisions that, perhaps, may have gone the other way on a different day. Greenmount finished 124-1 after 31.3 overs and secured seven points for themselves, dragging Westhoughton back into the challenge for a top 6 place and more or less ending any realistic title chances.
