Rain Ruins Local Derby

Westhoughton travelled to Horwich knowing that a win would keep them in second place and maintain pressure on the chasing pack. Having won the toss, Rob Houghton chose to field first in a game that was reduced to 43 overs per side.
Horwich made slow but steady progress, reaching the first rain interuption without losing any wickets. An early tea was taken, and this meant only six overs would have been lost from the Westhoughton reply. Unfortunately for the visitors, the game never reached this point. Horwich were 96-0 from 31.3 overs when the rain returned and the game was abandoned. 2 points were collected and was not much use to Westhoughton, missing out on the chance to beat one of the sides struggling in the bottom half of the table.
