Another victory for the first XI as they keep pressure on the chasing pack, but Little Lever extend their lead at the top.

Westhoughton travelled to Heaton with high spirits due to their good run of form, and with fixtures playing into their favour as teams around them were playing each other.
Westhoughton batted first and lost both openers with only 21 on the board (Glenn Bullock for 10 and Atiq-Uz-Zaman 8). This brought Rob Brown to the crease who added 24 to his seasons total, whilst sharing a parternship of 53 with pro Qaiser Abbas. Westhoughton then lost a couple of wickets (103 + 107) as Ian Pilkington was caught, and then Dan Naylor had to sacrifice his wicket after a mix up between himself and Qaiser. Dan's selfless act proved to be a catalyst for Qaiser as he smashed his way to 125 from 119 balls, and with support from Kieran Paisley (54 from 51 balls, a parternship of 113) helped boost Westhoughton's total to 257-8, including a 6 from the final ball of the innings from Kieran Edwards.
Heaton were never in the run chase, their afternoon summed up as Josh McGreavy was dismissed first ball to the delight of the Westhoughton players and fans alike. A few batters offered slight resistance, scores in the 20s, but took an eternity to reach their scores. Some must have seen JPs message of bat 50 balls and taken it abit too seriously!! Qaiser picked up 3-69 from his 25 overs, Kieran Edwards 2-26 from 7 overs, Dan Reeve bowled a hostile spell of 1-22 from 7 overs and Atiq also picked up a wicket (1-24 from 5 overs).
Another excellent victory for the lads who face Tonge and Horwich in a must-win double header next weekend to try and claw back some ground on runaway leaders Little Lever.
