Westhoughton travelled to last year's league runners up Greenmount hoping to better their performance from the previous season where they came so close to upsetting them. Unfortunately for the visitors, Greenmount were 102-0 inside 22 overs and despite two quick wickets from Pro Qaiser Abbas, who finished with 3-71 from his 25 overs, runs were flowing at the other end with Nathan Blair and Paul Hart feeling the brunt of the batters frustrations from the Pro's tight bowling. Matt Fanning chipped in with 2 wickets to finish with 2-47 from his 7 overs. Greenmount finished 238-5 from their 50 overs, a target Westhoughton may have been happy to chase had that been offered before the start.
However, Westhoughton got off to a poor start losing Atiq Uz-Zaman for 2, and limped along to 14-1 from 10 overs thanks to tight bowling. This meant the run rate was always climing and wickets continued to fall throughout the innings, only Ian Pilkington (40 from 72 balls) digging in and trying to build an innings. Paul Hart (32 from 19 balls, including four 6s) and Nathan Blair (14) shared a late partnership of 39 to give Westhoughton a slight hope on a small ground that they could at least snatch a bonus point, but both were dismissed and Westhoughton finished 159 all out.
