Daisy Hill Friendly

Westhoughton 1st XI took on Daisy Hill in their third warm up game of the 2013 season. Following 1 defeat and 1 victory last weekend, a 'match abandoned' was added to results for this season.
Having won the toss, Westhoughton captain Rob Houghton chose to bat first on a day where bad weather was expected later on. This looked to be a good decision when the home side raced to 39-0 inside the first 10 overs. Martin Hodgkiss was then dismissed for 26 caught behind bringing Daniel Naylor to the crease. Rob was the next man to go for 21, before Dan fell for 28 after hitting the only six of the game. At this point, Westhoughton were 79-3 from 21.4 overs and still on track for a good score. The score was ticking over slowly before debutant Jason Scheepers took the attack to the Daisy Hill bowler's, hitting four 4's in succession as he reached a run-a-ball 40 before the weather intervened. Kieran Paisley was also unbeaten on 13.
Unfortunately, the rain stayed and the game was abandoned with Westhoughton left on 135-3 from 32 overs, ruining what was sure to be an exciting end to the innings.
Sunday see's Westhoughton take on Caldy in a National Knock Out preliminary round game, due to start at 1pm, weather permitting!
