First Game Friendly Defeat

In a 40-overs-a-side game, Westhoughton batted first and posted a solid 181-8 thanks to new captain Rob Houghton's fine 64, (above), as well as Rob Brown and Extras (both 24). There were starts for a number of batters but they failed to capitalize.

In reply, Darwen reached 75-0 before losing two quick wickets to put Westhoughton back in the game. Another wicket fell as they were 96-3, but a 61 run partnership saw Darwen towards their target. Two late wickets fell but it wasn't enough for Westhoughton to claw victory from the jaws of defeat. There were two wickets each for Ste Parker and Rob Brown.
