Westhoughton vs Heaton 1st XI Home

Westhoughton 1st XI won the toss and elected to field against Heaton and struck twice early in the game thanks to Paul Hart. Whilst this may have brought some hope for the Westhoughton bowlers, this soon turned in favour of the batters as Heaton's Pro Maqsood scored an unbeaten 106 as they posted a very good score of 211-3 from their 50 overs, as Paul Hart took his third wicket of the day towards the end of the Heaton innings.
Westhoughton's start got off in the worst possible way as they lost Pro Stephen Murdoch for only 7 and soon after he was joined by Ian Pilkington and Daniel Naylor for single figure scores. Top scorer Ste Parker (32) and Captain Rob Houghton (21) battled on to try and rebuild the innings but the run rate was growing at a steady rate which forced both into big shots that ultimately led to their demise. There was a late fight from Kieran Edwards (16) who hit two boundaries but Westhoughton were all out for 121 in the 42nd over.
