Westhoughton vs Tonge 1st XI

Westhoughton Cricket Club's 1st team continued their excellent start to the 2012 season with a seven wicket victory over Tonge. The visitors won the toss and elected bat, which looked a good choice as they were 52-1 off 11 overs. However, a fabulous spell of bowling from Paul Hart (5-71 from 24.5 overs), supported by Steven Murdoch (2-16 from 12 overs) and some quality work behind the stumps from Kieran Paisley (5 catches) saw Tonge restricted to 144 all out in just under 49 overs.
In response, Westhoughton took no chances in reaching their target. Pro Stephen Murdoch led the way by anchering the innings, scoring 40 as he carried his bat from start to finish, being offered partnerships on 47 and 50 from Ian Pilkington (32) and Dan Naylor (35) respectively.
