Social Circle At The Double

Farnworth Social Circle beat Westhoughton for the second time this season following their opening day victory at the Tyldesleys with a 91 run win at Piggot Street. Circle made 252-6, with David Parkinson (67) and Richard Hope (79 not out) the chief run-makers. No bowler stood out for Westhoughton. Antonio Mayers (2-55) and Mubarek Patel (2-65) claimed two wickets each with Rick Parker (1-41) and Ian Pilkington (1-54) the only other bowlers amongst the wickets.

In reply Westhoughton were bowled out for 161 and with this defeat, some would argue, any hopes of retaining the championship this season, as they slip down to 7th. Ian Pilkington (38), Mark Atherton (26) and rising star Mubarek Patel (29 not out) were the only batsmen to score more than 20.
