Eagley v Westhoughton 25th June 2005

Century Stand Not Enough As Eagley Hold On For Draw

Two opening century partnerships were the highlight of Westhoughton's draw at Eagley. The match began with the Howfeners openers Steve Parker and Ian Pilkington putting on 138. Pilkington eventually went for 61, but Parker went on to hit 80 to lay the foundation that eventually helped them to a decent 266-8.

Eagley pro Mike O'Rourke finished with figures of 5-91 before playing a part in his side's encouraging reply. He scored 61 with opening partner Chris Lord adding 44 in an opening partnership of 107, but any hopes of threatening Westhoughton's score vanished as 3 wickets fell on 19, Rick Parker producing a fantastic spell of bowling that brought him three wickets for four runs from five overs. He eventually finished with figures of 3-29 but Eagley held on, forcing a draw finishing on 197-9.
