under 18s drew with Walkden (offcial result)
With
slim chances of a game due to a poor forecast for
tomorrow (Thurs 14th August) both captains agreed
a 20/20 game on Wednesday 13th August. Conditions
were bad (as some players found out 1st hand) but
could have been worse)
The

of bad light when Westhoughton would be batting)
thanks to wickets from each bowler, Danny Naylor,
Rob Brown, Kieran Edwards and Adam Heaton. Naylor
and Brown both got 1 wicket while the other figures
were: Edwards 2 for 15, Heaton 2 for 33.
Chasing

very different after Naylor was given out by Walkdens
umpire only for his own team to tell him that he
had got the run out decision incorrect. Later Rob

close to beating Walkden but in the end they fell
short in the last over. It was a very tight finish
and it could have gone either way. It was a great
effort by the lads and we should be proud of the
effort that got us this far. Thank you to all Westhoughton
fans for their support on one or both days.
At Walkden (29th and 30th June): Westhoughton 197
all out, Walkden 198-7.
Westhoughton
Pro signs as a Kolpak.
Westhoughton's Dwayne Smith has signed a two and a
half year deal with County Champions Sussex as a Kolpak
player. This means Dwayne can no longer play international
cricket for the West Indies but one day could represent
England on the international stage. Everyone at the
club wishes Dwayne all the success at Sussex and maybe
one day England and hope he can continue fine form
such as 72* for Sussex in a recent twenty/20. For

Dwayne Smith
Westhoughton
Pro Joins Sussex.
Westhoughton's bad luck with Pros continues for the
third year running as Dwayne Smith has been signed
by County side Sussex. The club would like to wish
Dwayne all the best in his new venture but sympathy
goes to the club as the pro curse continues. This
run was started in 2006 when Rayed Emrit was called
back to Trinidad having played only a hand full of
games and then last year Alcindo Holder was signed
but couldn't come over for the start of the season
following a domestic incident. more>>>>>>>>

DWAYNE
RETURNS TO THE TYLDESLEYS!!
Westhoughton Cricket Club have announced the signing
of old friend Dwayne Smith as Pro
for the coming season. Dwayne will return to the club
in time for the first game at Egerton after completing
the season in the Jamaican Premier League. The club
were about to announce the signing of Sulieman Benn
as pro, but this fell through after he won his first
cap for the West Indies recently which meant he couldn't
come over. This has now paved the way for Dwayne's
return which became possible following a conversation
with Westhoughton captain Steve Parker who persuaded
Dwayne to return to the Tyldesleys. Last time Dwayne
was pro here, in 2003, he scored 950 runs and took
57 wickets. This is a massive coup for the club and
gives the team an initial confidence boost ahead of
the new season. Good luck Dwayne on your return!
Start of Season Disco The club have announced
there will be a 'Start of season do' directly after
the games on Saturday 26th April 2008 in the clubhouse.
Westhoughton Cricket Club have called an
EMERGENCY GENERAL MEETING. This will
take place in the clubhouse on Friday 11th
April 2008 at 8pm.
