Hamer Cup The
draw for the Hamer Cup 2nd round has been made and it's
a trip to Greenmount that stands in the way of a semi-final
place for the 1st Xl. Meanwhile the 2nd Xl will be at
home in the Birtwistle Cup against Eagley. Both games
take place on Sunday June 25th.

First Points
On Board As Game v Eagley Is Abandoned Westhoughton
got their first points of the season as the home game
against Eagley had to be abandoned due to persistant
rain. Both teams did their best to keep the game going
after the covers were repeatedly replaced and removed
but the bad weather forced both teams to share the points
after just 28 overs were bowled in the already reduced
36 over game. scorecard>>>>>

Pro Arrives
But It's A Last Over Defeat Again The
bad start to the season continued for Westhoughton on
Saturday in another last over defeat at Bradshaw. This
was despite an excellent innings from new pro Rayad
Emrit who hit 113. A.Pindoria chipped in with 53 not
out but Bradshaw scored 126 off the last 13 overs for
an unlikely win as it back fired on Westhoughton who
rushed through their overs to try to claim the points.

Early Exit In
National Knockout Westhoughton
went out of the National Knockout at the 1st Round stage
at Maghull on Sunday. The home side posted a total of
278, but despite an excellent 84 not out from 'Immy'
Mubarek Patel, Westhoughton lost too many early wickets
to have any chance of reaching their target.

Pilky's Ton
Not Enough In Opening Day Defeat v Bridge There
was disappointment in the opening game of the season
for Westhoughton. Despite an excellent 101 from Ian
Pilkington and 82 from deputy pro, Amir Basnir, the
home side went down to a last over defeat to Astley
Bridge. scorecard>>>>>

NEW SEASON PUT ON HOLD FOR A WEEK

have been unable to prepare wickets in time for the
weekend and with more rain forecast it was decided to
postpone each club's opening game at a League meeting
on Thursday. These fixtures will now be played at a
later date.
